Gabriel Is On The Trail for Shyanboche
April 8, 2011Gabriel and his Expedition Team left Namche Bazaar this morning and are on the long trek up to Everest Base Camp. Their first stop will be at Shyanboche at almost 4,000m.

Namche Bazaar to Dengboche
April 7, 2011Namche Bazaar is the last town before reaching Everest Base Camp. It is a working town with their sole industry being tourism. When you arrive in Namche Bazaar, you get the feeling that culture and daily life override everything. There are lots of walks to do in and around Namche Bazaar if you need time to become aclimatized to the altitude or if you just want to see the sights. Namche is surrounded by mountains that are snow capped with icy waterfalls running down their sides into the valley and river below. Looking back down the trail you can see meandering paths that cris cros the steep mountain side. There is a even museum in Namche, if you fancy a small trek. It’s not very detailed but neither are the majority of things like this in Nepal. There are lots of internect centres in Namche too. They are obviously a lot more expensive than in Kathmandu. Twice a week there is a market in Namche. It’s a great opportunity to see Sherpa life in action. And if you want, you can even buy yourself a yak for the expedition!
