Gabriel Filippi of Montreal, Quebec is in Nepal once again. In May 2011, he will make an ascent of Cho Oyu . He will attempt the ascent without the use of supplemental oxygen.

Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world at 8,201m (26,906 ft) above sea level.  Cho Oyu lies in the Himalayas and is about 20 km west of Mount Everest.  It is at the border between China and Nepal. Cho Oyu means “Turquoise Goddess” in Tibetan.


Gabriel Prays With Monks At A Puja In Kathmandu

Gabriel attended a Puja in Kathmandu with 8 Monks, 2 Parents and many tears.  The monks prayed as the young soul left this world and was guided on his journey into the new world.  The parents were filled with deep and lasting sadness.

Gabriel Leaves Kathmandu For The Nepal-Tibet Border

Gabriel and his team have left Kathmandu for the Tibet Border and the start of the 2011 Choy Oyu Expedition. Gabriel will attempt to summit without the use of supplemental oxygen. Choy Oyu is one of the highest peaks in the Himalayas at 8,200M.
